Gratitude goes a long way and this long way I wish upon everyone with unending love and passion for their craft and to everyone who continually believes and supports mine. With that said, I would like to extend my utmost gratitude to my readers and to Shayne of The Book Of Shayne for nominating my (baby) travel blog for the LIEBSTER AWARD. Maraming salamat!
The Liebster award is a “favorite blog award” passed on from blogger to blogger. It is a great way of exposing new blogs (with 200 readers or less) further to the cyber world–to be discovered, to discover others, and to expand the blogging community.
Here are the four elements of the Liebster Award:
- Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to his or her blog.
- Answer the 10 questions by the nominee before you.
- Nominate 10 of your favorite blogs with fewer than 200 readers, and notify them of their nomination.
- Come up with 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
1. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE YOUR BLOG?
I’m a storyteller. I think I’ve spent most of my life telling stories in excruciating detail–and I’m not really sure if that’s a joke or not. I document. I have different outlets for memories, thoughts, and ideas just to drain some of the creative juices swimming up there for god knows how long. I’m curious. I don’t believe in dead ends because life never stops unfolding new experiences and truths–I have an insatiable thirst for knowledge.
Travel is one of my biggest passions in life, if not THE. It has been a year since I fully immersed myself in travel as I realized that there’s so much of the world that I have yet to see and yet to know about. This passion has already reached the point where travel has taken over my dreams on most nights–Yes, I love it THAT much! Though I have been traveling for most of my life but not as frequent as now, it was also only last year when I decided to fully document my travels and I started with travel films since I have been a filmmaker since 2010. A few months later, I had a strong urge to go back to writing (a forgotten passion when film stepped in) and that’s when I decided to start a travel blog. That way, I can create a bigger outlet for my rambling thoughts and memories that can include both my writing, my photographs, and my films. That’s how The Loco-in-Motion was born.
2. WHAT DO YOU WRITE ABOUT?
The Loco-in-Motion is mainly a travel blog. It’s about the places I visit, my experiences, my random thoughts when I travel, things that I realized or have learned about in different places, the people I meet, and so on. Loco-in-Motion is, quite obviously, from the word “locomotion” which means movement. I move to be moved in hopes to also move people to move–now that’s a mouthful of movement! I want my readers to open their eyes and see beyond the obvious because that is how one can fully appreciate anything and if this means going out of their way to fully experience a moment, then by all means, move and also be a loco-in-motion.
3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY?
I love the night. Between the stars and the moon, it is the stars that captivate me every time my eyes search for the light. It is these sources of heavenly light that paint the sky, a blank canvass of darkness, with all colors possible and my favorite colors come out to play when the sun introduces the night through its setting. The transition to night is the most beautiful part of the day–when the sun sets and paints the sky in hues of orange, purple, pink, or red, when the moon slowly rises and becomes a ball of orange light in a blank midnight blue sky, and when stars pop out one by one to reveal a polka-dotted sky.
4. FAVORITE TYPE OF MUSIC?
Instrumentals have a special place in my heart. I feel that music needs no words for its meaning to be fully expressed. I particularly love classical music but I can easily love instrumental versions of modern songs. The sound of pianos and strings always get me.
5. FAVORITE FOOD?
I am a sucker for sushi. It was actually my Japan trip that broke my strict diet that I had been on for 6 months. One cannot just say no to the authentic.
6. WHICH PART OF THE WORLD COULD YOU SEE YOURSELF LIVING IN?
Two years ago, I would say New York in a heartbeat. I love the fast-paced lifestyle and I’ve always seen it as the city of art and artists–a place where creative people should live.. oh, and broadway! Last year, I saw myself possibly living in Singapore. I loved how clean and organized it is, how safe it is to walk around even at the latest hours of the night, and how friendly people were–it would be easy to adapt to the place. In all honesty (and quite obviously), I don’t have a specific place in mind yet. I will always find something I love in different countries but I haven’t found that one place that will give me an actual reason to stay. For now and so far this year, it’s my motherland and my homebase, Manila, but I’m not settled just yet!
7. IF YOU COULD TRAVEL BACK IN TIME, WHICH DECADE OR ERA WOULD YOU MOST WANT TO LIVE IN AND WHY?
Civil wars, world wars, and all other conflicts aside, if just for the fashion and lifestyle, I would pick the 60s. I like how personal grooming was very important to them–men looked sharp and women looked classy, how prim and proper they seemed to be and if they weren’t, they were discreet about it, and how ladies and gentlemen were actually ladies and gentlemen.
8. WHO INSPIRES YOU MOST?
I have many sources of inspiration–it is not only a matter of who, but also of what. Genuine people inspire me–couples who genuinely love each other, a person who is genuinely passionate about his/her job, someone who gives and asks for nothing in return. Nature inspires me–the sky’s color palette, landscapes, and all the beautiful sceneries we’re blessed to see. My inner circle inspires me–My friends and my family.
9. OUTSIDE IF BLOGGING, WHAT ELSE DO YOU WRITE?
I’m a filmmaker so I also write scripts. I used to write poems too back when I was emotionally fragile from teenage love affairs–I still can but I believe writing poems must be born out of heightened emotions from which I am running low on as of the moment.
10. WHAT IS ONE THING YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?
Money–and my own, to make that clear. I need cash in my wallet and in the bank (and my piggybank), enough to support my daily needs and my lifestyle. In this commercialized and globalized world, money will buy you your everyday essentials (food, water, clothes, etc)…and fine, sometimes it can buy you happiness too! 😉
Here are my nominees for the Liebster award. These are blogs (in random order) that caught my attention because of their beautiful travel photos and/or travel stories, all of which I believe should be seen by plenty more! Hope you guys like them as much as I do!
